6 February 2019. DUBLIN, IRELAND-– St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, the biggest acute private hospital in Dublin, have switched SGRT supplier to enter into a long-term partnership with Vision RT. They recently became the first radiotherapy centre in Ireland to offer radiotherapy treatments without using tattoos or marks. The hospital, part of the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group, offers the highest number of consultants and the widest range of specialist care in Ireland’s only integrated multi-hospital campus.

St. Vincent’s now offers patients the option to avoid the marks and tattoos, used in traditional radiotherapy, that have been shown to have a negative impact on body image. Studies suggest that as well as improving patient wellbeing, AlignRT delivers more accurate patient positioning than marks or tattoos,.

“SVPH are delighted to have implemented AlignRT and to become the first centre in Ireland to offer our patients tattooless radiotherapy using SGRT. The Vision RT team were extremely helpful at all times during the project; in pre-project discussions, installation, training and then on site with go-live assistance and support,” commented Patricia Flanagan, Radiotherapy Clinical Services Manager at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital. “The benefits of introducing AlignRT are primarily focused on patient safety and we are extremely pleased with the improvements this technology will bring to our service, delivering complex treatments such as SRS/SBRT and DIBH, alongside monitoring all patients during treatment delivery to ensure each dose is delivered exactly as planned. The AlignRT interface offers full integration with our Elekta linear accelerators and allows the seamless transfer of patient data between our systems,” she says.

The latest version of AlignRT technology allows strong integration with Elekta linear accelerators and MOSAIQ® Radiation Oncology, helping to streamline treatment processes in the department.

Vision RT CEO, Norman Smith says the company is delighted with the partnership.  ” We are impressed by the capabilities and commitment of the entire St. Vincent’s team, and delighted that we have been selected as their SGRT supplier to enable radiotherapy treatments without marks or tattoos to patients in Ireland,” he says.
