alignrt in action - General Patient Setup

AlignRT® system can be used to position the patient so that their posture is the same as when they were scanned or simulated. This is achieved by using the real-time monitoring mode. Once the patient is in the correct postural position, an image can be acquired (gated if necessary). This image can then be matched directly to the reference image acquired at CT or simulation. Coordinates are output to indicate any misalignment in all six degrees of freedom. The couch position may be modified if required and the final position is then verified prior to treatment.

The following schematic illustrates potential workflows for breast and head and neck patient setup.
