CONTOUR EXTRACTION FOR 3D TREATMENT PLANNING

PlanRT® allows multiple contours to be extracted from a 3D surface model acquired by AlignRT® at the click of a button. Contours may be extracted in transverse, sagittal or coronal planes. There is no practical limit to the separation between, or the total number of contours that may be extracted other than the extent of coverage of the 3D surface data. All contour data may be exported in DICOM RT format.

Tools are available to estimate lung contours for the purpose of treatment planning of the breast. This first involves computing a geometric plan which determines any couch movements that need to be applied, gantry angle of the simulator or LinAc, and field size with which 2D X-ray image data is acquired.

From lung heights derived from the 2D X-ray and the 3D surface contours already extracted, a corresponding series of 3D lung contours are computed.

PlanRT® may also be used to extract contours in the treatment room. This allows retrospective planning and adaptive radiotherapy to be performed at any stage of treatment.

PlanRT® FEATURES:

  • Performs true 3D planning without CT Extracts multiple contours within seconds
  • Produces a geometric breast plan
  • Estimates 3D lung contours
  • Exports all contour and planning data in DICOM RT format
  • Facilitates retrospective planning and adaptive radiotherapy

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
PlanRT® works with AlignRT® version 3.2.0 or higher.

Accuracy
Root Mean Square (RMS) error of surface data < 1mm.
RMS error of skin contour data < 1mm.
Dosimetric errors for breast planning < 2%.

DICOM RT Export
All generated contour data, both skin and lung, together with user selected labelled points of interest, field borders and geometric planning information, may be exported in DICOM RT or ASCII format.

Note: PlanRT® exports DICOM files as specified in the AlignRT® DICOM conformance statement.
