Vision RT Announces New European Sales

28th Aug 2009

Vision RT is pleased to announce new sales to multiple European cancer centres.

A contract has been concluded recently with the Paul Scherrer Institute (‘PSI’) in Switzerland, one of the most advanced Proton Therapy Centres in the world, for the installation of two AlignRT® systems and one GateRT® unit. Vision RT will be supplying a new compact camera solution to accommodate the installation requirements in the proton gantry at PSI and will be collaborating with PSI to develop a new couch QA solution. “In our aim to provide the most modern imaging techniques to complement our highly conformal therapy, AlignRT® and GateRT® provide a perfect solution to real time imaging of anatomic changes of the patient, both during treatment and between treatment fractions” said Professor Tony Lomax, Head of Medical Physics at the Centre for Proton Therapy at PSI.

Vision RT has sold a GateCT®, GateRT® and an advanced AlignRT® system, the first of its kind to be installed in a TomoTherapy unit, to Essen University in Germany.

In Italy, a GateCT® system has been sold to the University of Modena for facilitating 4D CT reconstruction from their Toshiba Aquilion LB large bore CT scanner.

The Netherlands Cancer Institute, NKI-AVL, has purchased an AlignRT® system for tracking the breath-hold of patients undergoing Deep Inspiration Breath-Hold (DIBH) for left breast treatments, and for monitoring intra-fraction patient motion during Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT).

In the UK, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital have purchased an AlignRT® system to support their advanced stereotactic treatment programme. Two AlignRT® systems have been sold to the Parkside Oncology Clinic in South London. “Parkside Oncology clinic is currently implementing a comprehensive IGRT / adaptive radiotherapy programme” comments Dr Henry Weatherburn, Head of Physics, Parkside Oncology Clinic. “This programme not only includes the installation of in room CT and cone beam CT systems but also that of equipment from Vision RT. Installation of AlignRT® systems in each treatment room is a key component of the initial programme, which aims to maximise the accuracy of patient positioning both before and during radiotherapy treatment.”

“We are delighted with our recent progress in Europe” says Dr Norman Smith, CEO of Vision RT. “Recent sales to some of Europe’s leading cancer centres are testimony to the need for real time patient tracking in radiotherapy”.
