Risk Management Engineer (Medical Devices)

Reporting to: VP Product Delivery
Department: Research and Development
Location: London

Role Overview:

A qualified, highly skilled and experienced Risk Management Engineer is required to join our Research and Development Division based in North London.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor and review changes to regulations and standards and make recommendations for maintaining compliance for risk management
  • Maintain risk management procedures, and related templates and forms
  • Support all risk management activities for full product lifecycle including:
    1. Maintenance of the risk management file
    2. Maintenance of the risk management plan
    3. Provide qualitative and quantitative analysis of potential hazards identified from usability studies, post market surveillance and design changes
    4. Maintenance of the register of risks
    5. Input to impact analysis of design changes
    6. Risk review of residual anomalies and test deviations
    7. Participation in formal design reviews and project meetings as required
    8. Generation of risk management reports
    9. Post market surveillance
  • Support queries made concerning safety evaluations from the complaint handing team.
  • Support safety related investigations made in by the quality management department when investigating non-conformances, observations and CAPA
  • Contribute to, and participate in health hazard evaluations as required
  • Provide information, when required, to other risk processes, including production risk management, and cybersecurity

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in science / engineering based subject
  • Recognised professional qualification in risk management
  • Extensive commercial experience in risk management for medical devices or related field
  • Excellent attention to detail


  • Knowledge, or practical experience with the following would also be would be an advantage:
  1. Cybersecurity

Test Engineer

Reporting To: Programme Test Manager

Role Overview:

Superb opportunity for an excellent Junior Test Engineer to join this rapidly growing, global radiotherapy medical device manufacturer headquartered in London. As Test Engineer, you will join a team of friendly, highly qualified and accomplished professionals and have the opportunity to make a real difference.


  • Go through the software requirements and get clarifications on ones doubts
  • Familiarise with software under test and any other software related to it
  • Understand the test plan
  • Create test cases based on the requirements and other documents
  • Procure or create test data required for testing
  • Set up the required test beds (hardware, software and network)
  • Test software releases by executing assigned tests manual and/or automated
  • Log defects on defect management tool
  • Support Offshore test resource in setting up test environment.
  • Create test logs
  • Report test results to the Test Manager/Lead
  • Provide clarification for the reassigned bugs (for example, when a bug report is returned as not reproducible)
  • Re-test resolved defects
  • Update test cases based on the discovered defects
  • Provide inputs to the team in order to improve the test process
  • Report work progress and any problems faced to the Test Lead of Manager as required
  • Support the team with any other tasks as required

The Candidate:

  • Between 4 to 5 year of experience in software testing (Embedded domain)
  • Candidate must have a degree or masters in computers
  • Medical device testing background would be highly advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in software testing and working in agile environment
  • Experienced in using test management tool such as Quality Centre/ALM, SpiraTest, practices.
  • Experience in using defect management tool such as Mantis, Jira etc.
  • Candidate should be an expert in designing test case and logging defects
  • Experience in open source automation tool is mandatory
  • Experienced in maintaining requirement traceability metrics
  • Experienced in generating defect and test execution reports
  • Experienced in exploratory testing and eye for identifying defects
  • ISTQB Certification would be advantageous.
  • Candidates may be required to travel to customers for testing as and when required

Electronics Engineer (Medical Devices)

Role Overview: 

As an Electronics Engineer, you will be involved in providing significant technical input to the design, implementation and testing, leading to technical ownership of electronic designs and embedded software projects within VisionRT.

You will join a highly qualified and experienced R&D team and enjoy a challenging environment.

The Candidate:

Knowledge & Experience:


  • Design of analogue and digital circuits for the components used in Vision RT’s 3D Camera system for use in SGRT. To take responsibility for the design and
    overall quality of the hardware
  • Documentation of design specifications and implementation details. Lead
    design reviews. Upholding of hardware design standards and methodologies
  • Realisation of complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable
    hardware solutions
  • Responsibility for the complete implementation of detailed technical items and
    an understanding/appreciation of system level items
  • Flexibility is essential as specifications may not be fully defined at the
    start of development, and liaison with product management for continued feedback
    and input of requirements is likely throughout the development
  • Collaboration with other team members to agree system designs, interfaces and protocols etc
  • Development of appropriate test hardware and procedures, both informal and
    formal, to prove the correct operation of hardware
  • Provide support for the hardware and manage component obsolescence
    throughout its lifecycle
  • Monitoring and reporting of progress of development to project management
    and Development Management
  • Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation
    through adherence to company polices, processes and practices
  • Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values,
    policies and ethics codes of conduct
  • Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management
  • Supporting the production team
  • Design of production test equipment and service test equipment
  • Providing support to the Service Team in resolving field issues
  • Component procurement for development boards


  • Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering/related subject or equivalent industry
  • Minimum of 5 years proven design experience in industry
  • Excellent knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design
  • Ability to write comprehensive technical design documentation
  • Proven experience in handover and management of designs in production
  • Excellent hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Able to support/debug system integration
  • Good communicator
  • Excellent PC knowledge

Highly Desirable:

  • Use of schematic and PCB layout tools, including tracking high speed circuits
  • Experience of C programming, preferably in embedded applications in medical devices
  • Support and perform software debugging
  • Design of circuits containing embedded processors and FPGAs
