Peter Ellis


Peter Ellis has 40 years of experience in managing and consulting in the health industry in the UK, North America and Europe. He is currently UK Managing Director of MedWorxx, and was for many years the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Corporation in Toronto. Sunnybrook operates one of North America’s largest Comprehensive Cancer Centers. He was also the founding Chairman of IXICO Ltd., Head of Arthur D Little health industry practice and, prior to that, a senior Partner in Ernst & Young’s Global Consulting life sciences practice.

Dr. Norman Smith

President and CEO

Dr. Norman Smith graduated from Cambridge University in Electronic Engineering; he then moved to Imperial College where he completed an MSc in Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in 3D Medical Image Processing for Image Guided Surgery, in conjunction with Smith & Nephew plc. He has several years of experience in software development and medical imaging, and has been the commercial driver of Vision RT in all key areas of the business since its inception. Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, co-founder of Vision RT and is named inventor on several patents.

Dr. Ivan Meir

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Ivan Meir was originally a mathematics scholar at New College, Oxford, holding a PhD in mathematics. Since then, he has spent over 15 years working in software and algorithmic development in the fields of Photogrammetry and 3D Imaging. He is a co-founder of Vision RT and is responsible for much of the company’s core technology and IP. Dr. Meir is the named inventor on numerous patents relating to 3D imaging and radiotherapy.

Gideon Hale

Vice President Operations

Gideon Hale supplies significant management and product design experience to Vision RT. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from Brunel University, and has worked in project management and hardware design in the UK and Japan for over 20 years. He held senior roles in corporations including ICL and Fujitsu, as well as three early stage technology start-ups. He joined Vision RT after its acquisition of Camera Metrics Ltd., which he founded in 2002 following roles as Technical Director of a 3D Medical Imaging company and CTO of a 3D biometrics company. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, an ISEB qualified Project Manager, and the named inventor on a number of patents relating to 3D acquisition systems.

Arthur Kay

Non Executive Director

Arthur Kay is an international Sales and Marketing Executive with global senior management experience in the high technology medical equipment market. Arthur is currently Director of International Sales and Marketing at Vertual Ltd. and a Trustee of the College of Radiographers. In 2011, Arthur was awarded honorary membership of the Royal College of Radiologists, and has also been awarded a Fellowship of the Institute of Directors. From 1989 until 2004, Arthur was the Director of International Marketing at Varian Medical Systems; he was a key participant in growing Varian’s Oncology business to five major product lines and a turnover of more than £500 million. Prior to that, he spent fifteen years with Philips Oncology Systems where he was Director of Philips North American radiotherapy business.

Jack Coats

Non Executive Director

Jack Coats is a senior executive with expertise in radiotherapy, medical imaging, medical software, and nanotechnology in worldwide markets but in the America markets in particular. Jack resides in the USA and is currently Chief Executive Officer of CardioWise Inc., a cardiac imaging analysis software company. He has held senior executive roles in the radiotherapy industry for almost 30 years. Jack was formerly Vice President of Sales and Integrated Systems at Varian Medical Systems. More recently, he was President of Nucletron Inc. (now an Elekta company) where he built up and managed all operational activities for Nucletron in the Americas.

Michael Storfer

Non Executive Director

Michael Storfer is a Chartered Accountant. He specialised in tax and financial planning and was a general practice partner at Levy Blair Chartered Accountants for over 30 years until his retirement from public practice in 2007, when the firm merged with Rayner Essex LLP, Chartered Accountants. He continues to act as a consultant to the combined firm. He is an executive and non-executive director of numerous companies and a principal of his own management consultancy, advising companies engaged in a variety of industries.
